Green Hydrogen
Across nations, companies and communities there are ambitious targets set for green hydrogen’s expansion and its essential role is established as a suitable energy vector to achieve fuel switching away from fossil hydrocarbons. Green hydrogen is only derived from electrolysis – the decomposition of water using electricity to its components that are delivered as separated H2 and O2 gases [most often using a selective membrane or diaphragm].
The decades-old electrolysis sector must reform and modernise significantly to meet these targets and must prove it can scale in a sustainable way while still signalling a closing of the gap to cost-parity with carbon-intensive energy sources. Much concern in particular remains around the issue of reliable and affordable gas compression.
Large users and communities also need to adequately store much larger volumes of hydrogen than are currently managed for medium-term and even seasonal load-shifting.
At AqGas Group we are determined to be the tip of the spear to solve such problems head-on: our dedicated research entity AqSorption Ltd. is developing both membrane-free as well as compressor-free electrolysers. Our infrastructure partner East Midlands Pipeline Ltd. is currently helping transform the East Midlands through hydrogen energy production, transport and storage. Please be in touch to discuss your Green Hydrogen needs and we can find a solution that is tailored to you and your requirements.
